Episode 140: What’s up in 2023!

Andi and Lise chat about the changing of the year, taking stock, calendars, and a few of the things they’re looking forward to in terms of books, TV shows, and games, and also their dreams to win powerball and fund game studios.

Tears of the Kingdom, the next Legend of Zelda game, available in May 

K.B. Wagers’ 2023 and 3rd installment in their NeoG sci fi series, The Ghosts of Trappist, but read the whole series! 

The space exploration/epic journey game Starfield, by Bethesda, hopefully out in 2023 

Andi: 

Author Kalynn Bayron’s latest, My Dear Henry: A Jekyll and Hyde Remix, is out in 2023. Bayron remixes fairy tales and other stories into diverse, queer awesomeness. Andi plans to read all her stuff. 

The Mandalorian Season 3, slated to drop March 1 

Heartstopper on Netflix, Season 2. Andi’s going to give this series a try because it’s supposed to be heartwarming and we could all use more of that

Tara: RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK Vs. the World (BBCThree) – a global spinoff. She’s also looking forward to RuPaul’s Drag Race in general (various platforms) and the show We’re Here (HBO), which follows 3 drag queens bringing luv to small-town America.

Episode 70: A New Year of Geeking Out!

Andi and Lise are getting ready for a new year of geeking out! They each chat about movies they’re looking forward to, books/authors they want to read and other geekly things. To that end, here are some things they’re looking forward to:

Movies:
Wonder Woman 1984 (trailer)
Possibly the re-make of Dune, though both are a little more cautious of that. (trailer)

Both Andi and Lise are really looking forward to reading more diverse spec fic. Here’s a good anthology to get started finding some authors: New Suns: Original Speculative Fiction by People of Color

TeeVee:
Andi is finally watching the animated series Star Wars: Rebels and she’s loving it; she’s also watching the latest season of Dr. Who (Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor); and will be continuing on with her usual series.

Gaming:
Lise is stoked to check out Cyberpunk 2077 (info).

Episode 53: A Walk Down Memory Lane, Part 2

Andi and Lise take another stroll down memory lane, this time chatting about gaming and cosplay and Andi cleverly makes sure that Lise talks about both of those because SHE’S REALLY GOOD AT THEM! And Andi had all kinds of questions for her. 

The games that got Lise started: Zelda and Quest games like King’s Quest. She was also into Elder Scrolls and open world role-playing games. She also plays FalloutBorderlandsMass Effect, and is currently designing some cosplay elements from Skyrim (Elder Scrolls). Also, heads up on the forthcoming Outer Worlds!

While Andi’s away, Lise will play, and what better way to do so than by sitting down for a chat with Meghan O’Brien. Not only is Meghan a fantastic author of lesfic, but she is also an avid gamer.

Lise and Meghan discuss some of the obstacles of gaming as women, which games they’ve gotten into in the past, and the upcoming games they’re itching to get their hands on.
